“T” as we all know him has been with us a while now.
He has been a great guy to have onboard and always listens and works hard without fuss. In the last few months T has really worked hard on his nutrition with the help of Craig, achieving amazing results.

It is with great pleasure we announce our first DOUBLE CHAMP… the now 2 x CHAMP, CHAMP Athlete of the month – Ann Banzon!!!!
Ann inspired us all with her relentless work ethic this time last year, Ann has remained on task boosting her fitness, developing great skills and blasting fat on a daily basis. If you want inspiration then speak to Ann, ask her what drives her to keep working hard and remain disciplined. The proof is the results and Ann is achieving them whilst balancing gym and family life.
Well done Ann, your next challenge is can you become the undisputed CHAMP, CHAMP, CHAMP some time in the near future.
Over the Summer there has been some outstanding contributions to the Box from members. During August it was difficult to choose exactly who was at the top as lots of people have done themselves proud.
Abdul has stood out amongst a very strong pool of candidates which tells you how much had work and discipline he must of demonstrated. Not only that but with multiple nominations from his peers it shows you, we coaches are not the only ones who have noticed..

Sole has really developed this year, her attitude and presence in the gym has been inspiring others to work hard and get focused just like she has.. Her infectious personality and pure joy for CrossFit is present every day. Never one to moan or complain, always positive and passionate about what she does and carry’s around with her a burst of enthusiasm for life.

Athlete of the Month is none other than Chris Cox!!!
Well done Chris it is with great pleasure to announce you as the AOTM for December.
Chris has been a great member of the gym for some time now and always stood out as a polite, respectful and hard working athlete. Recently he volunteered along with others to help run Breathing Fire 5.0 taking on the most challenging job of master score controller. Thank you Chris from all the team, keep on doing what you are doing because we are sure you are inspiring the rest.

Param has done a great job since joining CrossFit Oryx, he has shown some fantastic progress with his lifts and general skills along with really putting in the time with some of the more complex aspects of the gymnastics. He comes as often as he can and always has a great attitude to learning and challenging himself in the workouts. He finished the month off with a great start to the OPEN hitting a PR.

Congrats to Maisoon who has stood out as the Athlete of the Month in February. Nominated multiple times by her peers for her hard work, and great attitude in class along with going out of her way to help others on their journey too.

Since joining us in April 2016 Andy has moved between the Metcon and WOD’s developing a broader skill set whilst also working on his fitness and personal goals. Andy is a great guy to have around the box genuinely encouraging others and always available to help out when needed. Throughout January specifically Andy has stood out amongst the coaches as someone who has started the New Year with a great attitude and dedicated approach, and we are certain he will continue to smash goals.
Well done and keep up the good work with consistency and discipline.
January’s AOTM is so hard to choose as so many people come back from holidays with good intentions..
However this time the AOTM goes to someone who has been putting in more than just 1 months effort, she has been working so hard now for a while and the results speak for themselves.

Congratulations buddy, You have shown great progress and commitment since joining us at the start of the year. You are always cheerful and helpful in classes and show great respect for the coaches and athletes alike.

Our Athlete of the Month in July is…. Mark Banzon!!!
Mark’s been with us a few years now and has always been a pleasure to have in class. Both him and his Wife Ann have been such a big part of this community. Mark turns up often sometimes doing double sessions, always giving 100%. Congrats Mark you have stood out recently amongst your coaches and fellow peers as AOTM.

This year Amr has really taken control of his training and nutrition, and although we are just done with the 1st quarter and the OPEN the results have been nothing short of amazing. He has lost a considerable amount of weight the right way, through discipline and hard work, his training number’s and have improved and he did extremely well in the month of March.

This Month’s Athlete of the month is George Coleman!!!!
What a pleasure it has been to have George come back after a long absence with such a great attitude towards his health and wellbeing. This time round George has took such a mature approach to the workouts knowing his limitations as well as his strengths giving a much better shot at achieving his goals. During the OPEN George volunteered as often as he could and was so encouraging of his fellow athletes, something which is sewn into the fabric of what CrossFit is since day 1. Nominated numerous times by his peers and backed up by the coaching team!

Shout out this month to Marcus who was nominated for his positive approach to everything he does. He has progressed well in the box with his weaknesses and its really starting to show in the classes. Always gives 100% in workouts and never gives up until the work is done. Marcus is super helpful, motivating to others and keen to help within the community.

This months AOTM is a special one for us…
This month we celebrate two people who have both inspired others, not only are they consistent with their training and attitudes, they are also great people to have in the box too. Both of these Super Women haven’t let being pregnant stop them from staying fit and healthy during the month of May and made adjustments to the workload and tempo to allow them to carry on working out safely.
Well Done ladies we look forward to meeting the future CrossFit Games Champs very soon!

This months AOTM goes to….
What a fantastic inspiration Claire has been to her peers and fellow athletes! Over the last few months Claire has stood out, her dedication to her training and consistency with her diet is visible for all to see with fantastic results. Recently stepping forward to participate in the Paws Charity Row event as an individual with means completing a full marathon on a concept 2 indoor rower… WOW! All this whilst juggling being a mother to 3 kids, a wife and a career, Outstanding!

Renato Luna Dezonne
Congratulations on all your hard work and consistency!
Renato has managed a knee injury for a long time now and still manages to make it in most days. For those of you who do not know him yet, he trains mid afternoon and always matches his scaling to his ability allowing him to develop his technique and enjoy the workouts without causing potential injury or risk. We coaches all agreed that his attitude and consistency have made him stand out as an AOTM, he is slowly increasing his loads and truly grasping the CrossFit format for physical development. We are very pleased with your performance and look forward to more of the same. “Consistency is Key”

Phil has been a great addition to the box since joining 6 months ago. He has shown great athlete development and took to the CrossFit style of training so well. Phil is always first to help out and usually the last one to leave at night. His performance in the CrossFit OPEN and his overall attitude lead to so many nominations for AOTM and well deserved too.
This months top athlete in the BOX goes to…. Ibrahim Gamal!
Initially Ibrahim came to CrossFit Oryx like many others and given it a try. He was inconsistent with his training and struggled to balance working out with other commitments and stopped. A short while later he came back and really embraced everything we have to offer, putting into practice sound nutritional advice from the coaches and scaling workouts correctly to develop his ability and confidence to perform. Now many months later he has lost all that unwanted fat and looking Lean, Happy and full of life.

Athlete of the month goes to Amira, well done!
Amira has been a very consistent member since joining us, she has shown lots of enthusiasm and dedication to her training and development as an athlete. This month Amira started with 10 x 10k Rowing challenge and then followed it up with a half marathon the following week. This is an example of her mental toughness and commitment to becoming a better human.
We coaches are immensely proud of her achievements so far and look forward to seeing what comes next.

Our AOTM in November is Trisha Clancy!!!
Trisha has done extremely well since arriving at Oryx going from strength to strength both physically and mentally. Trisha was nominated by lots of members from classes spanning the whole day which is a good reflection of how much her hard work and dedication has been noticed.
Recently Trisha helped capture Breathing Fire 3.0 images that people can look back on and cherish in times to come. Some of those images captured the emotions of the day and we would all like to take this opportunity to thank you personally for your efforts.

My pleasure to announce this October’s Athlete of the month is… Nathan Delaney!
Nathan gets nominated every month but for some reason this month he has stood out a little more than normal. We expect it is down to his progress in the sport of CrossFIt coupled with a fantastic attitude to the process and very gentle yet encouraging approach to his peers. Nathan comes into the box every morning at 0530 to squeeze in his fitness before taking his beautiful kids to school and then attacking a full time job. His work ethic and general presence is something to inspire others and he never complains or makes a fuss about anything, in fact he is a great help and is often seen putting other peoples bars & plates away.
Nathan you are certainly on the right path, stick to the process and enjoy every day in your BOX!

This month our recognition for AOTM goes to Sarah Aitken!
Sarah has had a complete lifestyle change over the last 6 months and it can be seen from many dimensions. Sarah took charge of here diet and poor lifestyles choices as well as working her butt off in the gym to help shed a load of unwanted weight. Not only that but Sarah has grown in confidence and attitude and is a pleasure to have on board.

If you have had the pleasure of working out with her in the mornings or on a Friday then you too will have experienced her infectious laughter, great attitude and commitment to become a much happier and healthier person.

This months ATOM goes to Julita,
Every month since the start of the year lots of people have voted for her, this is largely down to the amount of effort and commitment she has put into her development. Julita has recently got into the best shape of her life, there hasn’t been some magic pill that got her there either. Consistent training + eating healthy and a great attitude has done it.

This Months AOTM is won by a clear mile.
We had some awesome nominations and reasoning come through, however Omar had over 15 nominations and everyone commented on how much extra work he is doing on the sidelines as well as always being supportive of others. Omar always has lots of questions to ask and is very interested in his own health and wellness. His progress as an athlete has been great to watch and is starting to understand his limitations and how to address them until they are strengths.

We coaches witnessed first hand during the course of the Open how helpful and encouraging you can be. You were first to show up and volunteer for judging and one of the last ones to leave. You turned up early on Sunday’s to judge your fellow athletes and stuck around after you class to help again.
How you have conducted yourself this past month has been inspiring and you have captured the very essence of the word ‘Community’ where CrossFit is concerned.
You have also continued to work hard in classes give all you can each session which is all we can ask for.

This Months AOTM goes to……
Andy Ritchie who was selected by members of the gym as the athlete of the month for his constant hard work and positive approach to the workouts and his infectious enthusiasm for what we all do. Usually the first to finish his workouts and then directs what energy he has left towards those still working hard, this is a true reflection of your selfless character.
He is extremely helpful in the class and behaves like an absolute gentleman and is always friendly and supportive of others. The coaches are all in agreement that your presence in the team only helps to enrich what we have already and you are an asset to the box.
January’s *STAR* athlete goes to.. – Diaa Elsadat
Diaa has been like a member of the staff team here at Oryx, he has helped run activities, taken 1000’s of photos of you all and always tries hard and listens to instruction. He has a great attitude towards training and always gives 100%. His own struggles with weight have been addressed and he has worked so hard to sculpt the body he wants and is still working hard on that goal.
His strength is still really untapped and i for one can not wait until we see his real potential. We as a coaching team feel extremely blessed to have him on board and look forward to more of the same.
